Halgurd-Sakran Floristic study is considered among the important programs of KBF. This project is started in the mid of March 2019, preparation has made for the first year project of plant species collection in this region, and the intensive work will be launched by the beginning of April 2019 in Halgurd-Sakran region. Conservation and floristic study in this region have a big consideration by KBF. The richness of biodiversity and plant species (25% of the total endemic species in Kurdistan-Iraq), substantial housing projects and establishing commercial facilities, new high-rise residential areas, expansion and new network of roads, establishing the gravel mine beside the river, reforestation of slopes by non-native trees, conversion of the natural habitat to vineyards and fruit orchards, are all among the reasons to give the priority of implementing this project in 2019.
